Ultimate e-file bit guide: Which e-file bit should I use?

E-File bits are made from different materials, come in different shapes, sizes and styles and have different purposes and benefits.

Each tech will have their own preference on what bit they prefer to work with, down to the material and the grit. It is important to learn how to recognise when to change bit, speed and working techniques yourself as each machine, bit and technician works differently.

There are some bits which must only be used for certain techniques, otherwise it is down to preference.

Try to seek bits where the head and shank is moulded in one-piece together. This helps to ensure stability and less vibration. It can be hard to tell the difference between some bits and when one is priced at £5 and another at £20 it can be tempting to purchase the cheaper bit. However, the quality of the bit is essential to prevent damage and to ensure you aren't in fact giving yourself harder work.
